Edinburgh recommendations

I’m up there in November but I’m getting off at haymarket to go and watch hearts . Is their anywhere decent to eat nearby the station or the ground to get something to eat . Not fussed on pubs as I can’t drink . Even a decent chippy would do ?

There’s a good burrito place on gorgy road. Loads of takeaways on Dalry road on your walk up. Looks a really nice ground Tynecastle. Always had more of a soft spot for hibs than hearts to be honest.

Snap...Mrs Mellow introduced me to his novels....he was in Liverpool today at the Library in William Brown st ...gutted we couldn't go...just got the latest book at the weekend.

Yeah I’ve been to hibs with Everton but never hearts so it’s just to tick off the ground. I wouldn’t mind doing a derby game .

Apart from the pubs and eating houses i like the MACKIES ICE CREAM shop near the castle.Its lovely.

ive been in there too, it was round the corner from my hotel. was very grand but nice inside. good shout!

Good shout. It's better for beer than its illustrious neighbour the Cafe Royal. Expensive though. And they have Murphys not Guinness.
I like the basic charms of Mather's at the West End of Princes Street. No frills but good beer, pies and toasties. I don't know how it's managed to survive in that spot without going all plastic and foody.

Had a good night there earlier visiting my youngest daughter whose at uni there, we were in the Kenilworth on Rose street and the John Logie Bird on George Street,both good boozers
