eBay

My entire business is now on Ebay, I sell surgical and Lab machinery.

It is an amazing resource but they are utter C***** . I pay them 3k average per month and they have me over a barrel. One wrong move and your off with no comebacks. It is a horrid way to live, always expecting the worst.

I use an amazing company called Webinterpret who translate all my listings on to all the Ebay platforms around the world (Brazil, japan, germany etc) and so I export 90% of my stuff.

I quite simply would not be in this business without Ebay.

I've used it off and on for abar 15 years, overall it's got me the funds for a Glastonbury, a flight to NZ and some spends while I was there and for a new guitar and helped me out when money was tight now then, and loads of music and fillums over the years. They do take a wedge but it'd likely be bound for the charity shop otherwise. Handy.

Got an old laptop, games and stuff like that - if I can a few hundred quid I'll be happy.

Got another mate who goes in Charity Shops, spots something in good with decent resell value and makes good profit. Says it paid for his season ticket last year.

Used to work with a lad who did the same mate, he would scour the charity shops, car boot sales, he actually said he made a decent living out of it. I remember him saying one morning that he had once knocked at a house that had a skip outside with some bits of furniture in, asked the owners if he could have a mooch, he pulled a pine chest of drawers out, cleaned them up and painted them, sold them for £120, one man's rubbish and all that.

if your prepared to use your noggin and don't mind getting your hands dirty and like scouring the shops and carboots etc then you can make a decent living off it.

when I used ebay a lot, I found I could actually buy stuff off ebay, and actually relist it with a better advert, and have it finishing at adecent time, like a sunday evening when most people are in and looking online, and make money like that. you just have to be prepared to spend hours scouring ebay and and the like, but it can be very worth while.

When someone marks something as dispatched on a Sunday.

Dubious.

I sell a few things and if there's a few orders over the weekend then I package them up and print the postage on Sunday evening so I can post them early Monday on the way into work - saves rushing round after work and trying to catch last post at the PO late on Monday afternoon as 90% of the boxes are emptied morning/early afternoon.

Trouble is that when you print the postage labels Ebay automatically marks the item as dispatched straight away. Hence the Sunday dispatch.

See plenty like that. You can look in a skip and be "That's £20", "That's £50", "There's another tenner" - It's just a matter of whether you can be arsed with it.

Done this. Clean it, take decent pictures, hit the keywords in the description and double check your spelling. Adds a surprisingly good percentage to the final price.

A few dodgy dealers out there
A lot of fake goods too
If you don't complain within a set time then you've no come back as a buyer so many sellers set their delivery schedules beyond the set time
I've bought some cracking things and some nodules of excrement
