I looked everywhere on eBay for a storage footstool that would match my NEXT leather armchair but couldn't find one remotely suitable. When I was on Facebook later I accidently clicked on what I then realized was Marketplace. Moments later I saw the exact one I was looking for, also NEXT and the same colour. Not only that, it was only couple of miles away! It's always bugged me at how much eBay and their PayPal payment system charges a seller, so, now I see it costs nothing to sell anything on Facebook, I always sell on there.

What are your experiences of either or both?

Never used the Facebook Marketplace. Not really been aware of it tbh. I use ebay a lot. I don't sell loads, but do find the charges a little much, especially if I sell anything of value. However I like the reassurance of the Feedback system on there. Does FBMP have anything similar?

NB: voted Get Jo On, 'cos it's far to long since we've heard that shout! :o

Couldn't sell through Facebook and found communications with people a bit abrupt tbh.

Good if you are near by though.

I use social media in my job and I didn't actually know there was a Facebook Marketplace.
I use facebook everyday and didn't know about this.

I mean I knew there's buy/sell groups and you can set up your page to sell things (gf does it), but an actual Marketplace thing? Unless it's what I described I'd never heard of it up until this point.

I am in a few camera equipment by and sell Facebook groups, I prefer them to eBay, ypu can check peoples profiles, or what's public on them, and decide better if you want to deal with them. Much better then a feedback rating but you don't actually know what items they have bought and sold

I don't think so. It does ask if any of the people who contacted me about an item bought it (when I mark it as sold) but that's about it. I've since sold three or four more items on there but not bought anything else.

Maybe different in desktop mode but look along the top row when on your home page (not your profile page) and you'll see an icon that looks like a shop front Click on that and it'll ask what it is you're selling.

Gumtree for me. Only found facebook marketplace this week, but yeah, it's fairly good. Ebay probably for buying, but for selling i like gumtree and ebay would be behind facebook marketplace because of the selling costs.
