Having said that, a number of small quakes can relieve some stress which reduces the chance of a big one.

Or it can weaken the formation and make a big one pending.

4 smallish quakes over a couple of days would almost certainly indicate pressure being released on the faults. If there was a swarm of 4 with an hour then it's time to get worried.

San Andreas faultline...not a question of if but when they get "the big one"...anyway i cant imagine "franking" helps...oh er i mean fracking :-)

California, normally experiences hundreds of earthquakes everyday. Not unheard of to have several that you can feel in a short space of time.

That being said, the San Andrea's fault is primed to go off and make Nevada beachfront real estate just like in Superman 1!!
