I think three years gives him enough stability that he can plan longer term to help transition the club into the new era, whilst being short enough that we are not tied up in expensive risk should it not manifest.

Big headache for the new owners I think. I can see why they would like to come in with their man as soon as the takeover is completed, but also don’t want to shake things up too much mid season.

There is no way to justify extending his contract beyond this season if TFG has any ambition though.

Probably not. Just because we're getting new owners, and they will want their own man. A 12 month extension maybe, but no point handing out anything longer if TFG are gonna get their own man as soon as he hits a hurdle.

A very important thread.

If the takeover fails to go through we risk being managerless and without a 'checked in' set of owners.

So there is a question of 'better the devil you know' with unloved Dyche? Or a big contract for a shiny new manager appointed by flutes who might not fit the new owners vision?

Well thought out reply. It's also worth considering whether we want yet more upheaval. There's gonna be changes, but no reason they all need to be made on day one of TFG.

Got to be 3 years so there is some security on both sides.
We only have his loyalty keeping him here at the moment, in the face of more stable, cash-rich Clubs making him a much better offer and giving him an easier life.
