A great player but a bit selfish, which is why Lee sold him. Not a popular move at the time, but the right one considering the team the following couple of seasons was one of the best I've seen.

....I didn’t think he was a great player in any sense of the word, but it’s all about opinion.
 

Highly gifted, talented, mercurial... but something of a luxury at the time.
Glad he was a Blue at the time as we needed someone to idolise.

....absolutely, which is why I said I can see why he was liked so much. I used the term ‘circus player’, about him, he’d have tricks but wasn’t very effective. He did play well, though, and gave Tommy Smith a torrid time in that first Maine Road semi-Final.

Seems a nice fella as well.
