Heading to Dublin tomorrow for the weekend

Doing the guinness tour and obviously temple bar

Anyone been or got any recommendations?

Cheers

Didn't take long for someone to recommend Copper's! I hate the place personally, but I can see the appeal for some. I like Whelans on Wexford Street. It has live music and all, and there's a place on the quays near the centre of town called O'Reilly's that does cheap pitchers of beer. It's usually quite crammed but it's a good pub.

Other than that, things to do in Dublin tend to be of the drinking variety. There's a zoo in Phoenix Park, and if you hop on the train there's a few places outside the main city like Dun Laoghaire or Bray, which are probably better in the summer because they're beside the sea. If you're hitting a restaurant at any point, I would recommend Boulevard Cafe on Exchequer Street, myself and my girlfriend practically keep the place open.

There's intermediate GAA gaelic football finals on Saturday in Croke Park, but they probably wouldn't interest you. It's really the inter-county games you'd want a ticket for. There's some lame Skyline at Dusk tour on over the weekend too, but I think it's a Valentine's type of affair.

Anyway, hope you have fun. Dublin's pretty crap, that's why we tend to drink until it at least seems nice. Have a good one!

Walk through Trinity college, some cool buildings and art. The National Gallery (free) is also great and they have a nice collection of old masterpiece oil paintings and some contemporary stuff (and a very functional bar "The Lincoln" is right across the street...no frills but we ended up stopping in there a few times). I thought Diwali Indian/Nepalese restaurant on Aungier street was good, as was Sultan, a no frills Lebanese food place right next door. I loved the Guinness tour, a really well-curated museum. Make sure to do the "extra tasting" on the third floor, it's something like every 30 minutes and limited to 20 people.

These are all touristy recommendations, no doubt.

It is but be ready for the potential flock of seagulls out of your loop the hoop on Sunday morning.

...never happens to me, never even feel a hangover the day after a session. For all you young guys, convert to dark ale. You'll get to like the taste and never return to the Amber stuff.

Mate's had a heart condition since he was young, he still has to be mindful of how much he drinks but a series of doctors over many years have told him to stick to dark beer.
