1 get out of ban jail free card - transferable - to whoever provides the first solution that works.

I've just moved house. I'm trying to put my PC back to how it was, I used to have two monitors but I can't work out how to get both working simultaneously again.

I have two Dual Port cables and one HDMI cable.

Where do they go?

I fluked it to get it working the first time but over 2 hours later of guessing, I'm having no joy here.

I've watched the YouTube videos. I've tried sawdust.

For me I have 2x HDMI ports on my PC so I just use one HDMI cable from each monitor to a port on the PC, very simple. Then just go in Display Settings to set it up.

You just basically need a cable from monitor to whatever port is available in your PC. If you only have one HDMI port you might night an adaptor to whatever is free (like a VGA).

What graphics card do you have? On some cards some of the outputs are paired, so only one of a pair will work at a time (eg on mine a dvi and hdmi port). I will assume you have set the monitors themselves to the correct inputs, but the pc just doesn't recognise the second screen?

YouTube videos mentioned about an adaptor but I know it's worked with the cables I have.

I just don't seem able to plug them all where they should go.

If both monitors have power and are connected properly to the GPU then just in display settings and detect to see if it’s picked it up. Unless you’ve changed graphics card to one that doesn’t allow dual but I doubt that.

I have a HDMI from my motherboard to my browsing monitor and displayport from my GPU to gaming monitor. Works fine for me.

It's a decent one. I got it a few years ago and asked if it could play football manager and was told it can play the newest top range game.

The second monitor only seems to get to a message saying no cable connected. Sometimes I've got it so the primary monitor just shows a blank desktop so its like all the apps/files etc have gone to the second monitor but its now showing.

Sorry for this...

But.

Have you tried sawdust?

*legs it and hides*

Seriously though. Have you got one screen working and the second is blank? Have you a single out on the computer or two outs? It could be an issue with screen detection?

In Display Settings make sure under ‘Multiple Displays’ on the drop down box you’ve set it to show “extend displays” or something similar if one screen is black.

Multiple displays setting. Extend these displays possibly?

Can you post some pics of the back of your monitors and the back of your PC for us?

Thanks. Will try and upload one shortly. On a 4G thing while waiting for internal install and and upload speed isnt ideal.

PC has one Dual Port, and quite a few HDMI.

Back of monitors has 2 HDMI and 2 Dual Port - marked 1 and 2.

Problem I have is when I go to display settings it doesnt show the second one, when I plug it in, I cant get to the settings because I assume its on the other monitor that isnt showing.

I think I might have to switch the monitors and try that - monitor/graphics card below. Both the same monitors
