Ok, I thought I would give this a whirl but with no particular expectation of getting that far.

Day One ticked off, but I woke up still feeling like a zombie, hadn't lost any weight and my facial skin wasn't young and refreshed looking. Its a con! Lemmy managed to last out to 70. A few drinks here and there will be fine! o_O

No worries in that mate"

it's a good thing to do I find, though won't start until Sunday as I'm in Galway today, and will finish on 3rd of Feb.I'm usually fine with the only time it troubles me is when the six nations are on and I miss going to the pub to watch the games,do feel a lot better by the end, toying with going until Paddy's day this year as i've set myself targets in my 10k runs.

a mate of mine gave up for January two years ago,and she's still dry.

There's nothing big or clever about drinking anyway, stick it out then if you want to give yourself a realisation of what it does to you do 1 of the following...

Have say 2-3 pints then stop ... be prepared for a headache/ fall asleep
get ratsed & see how incapable of functioning you are the following day

Decided to go teetotal just after Xmas, I seem unable to drink without getting smashed and behaving badly. Ended up going out NYE and this confirmed that I should not drink anymore. Giving up for the foreseeable future now. My only worry is that booze is such a big part of our culture that I will become a bit of a recluse and see friends a lot less.

shouldn't take too long...
