What's the GOT view on drink driving?

Personally I believe we should have a zero limit as for example train drivers or airline pilots.

Totally agree.

You've had a drink. Even one. Then you don't drive.

I remember not too long ago at a work do I had one bottle (admittedly strong) beer, but under the law limit, and drove home but I did not feel safe at all. I hadn't eaten much that day and it defo had an effect.

It's just not worth the risk.

That and i'm feeling really weird about booze at the mo anyway.

Quite agree. It seems that if you want to kill someone, doing so from behind the wheel of a car is by far the best way to do so as the law seems incredibly lenient.

Having a zero limit would be ridiculous imo.

As you could have a couple of glasses of wine the night before, feel absolutely fine in the morning and yet could blow positive.

You'd be rendering half of the population as criminals, as anyone who had a tipple and then drove the next morning would fall foul of the law.

Drink driving is idiotic, but driving the next day with a fraction still in your system is not the same thing.

Personally I limit myself to two pints not a drop over, although the day after a drink I reckon I've been touch and go

I don't support no alcohol at all though, what if you've had a slice of cake containing some alcohol etc.........mouthwash even

Recently went to a friends house, took a large bottle of cobra and a few bottles of Cobra 0%. 1/3 pint of normal cobra topped up with 0% and it was a perfectly palatable drink which meant I was barely over the limit and had effectively a full nights drinking. Good times, definitely doing that again.

Zero limit is daft. I just dont drink and drive, but there must be times I have been over a zero limit for the reasons above. Someone driving with say 10 milligrammes, so way below the limit, is less dangerous than someone who is tired and driving, or someone who is really inexperienced in motorway driving imo.
