Wasn't Germany fully behind it's Army ?

Was German only targeting Military Installations ?

Did Germany wish to Occupy the whole of Europe ?

In the parts that it did occupy, were the civilian population allowed to carry on their normal lives with plenty to eat etc ?

I think you'll find that the correct answers to the above questions is Yes, No, Yes, No... unless you consider a diet of bulbs to be living a normal life.
It was a case of us doing whatever we were able to them & their country, cos they were sure as hell doing it to us at every opportunity.
Don't let it be ignored as well that we were doing these things also on the behalf of the countries that had been over-run and occupied, and unable to do it themselves due to no longer having an Army.

I remember meeting an old lady in Greece on a ferry and she was telling us how as a girl they lived in view of the Acropolis, during Athens being occupied late 1 night her father sneaked out & then arrived home with a group of men who it turned out were British Soldiers, she said they were there for what seemed weeks with a machine gun set up in the front room which when an order arrived was taken out onto the Balcony so that they could launch an attack, apparently there were other apartments with similar and in a short time they took out all of the main German command posts enabling the Greeks to then reform and drive the Germans out. Said that without the British the Nazi Flag would have been flying over the Acropolis for a lot longer, maybe even until when she was telling us. Said Greece wasn't the nicest place to be right through to 70's with a military dictatorship & foreigners were shunned but the Brits were forever welcome as it was viewed that the Germans wouldve still been there if it hadn't been for the brave ones who somehow got in to carry out the mission.

Anything we did to them in the war was a necessity because it was exactly what they were doing to everyone else.

No mate, you've misunderstood the Nazi's. They were really nice guys who just wanted everyone to live in harmony, except the Jews of course. All they wanted was to control Europe and dominate the planet, achieved by bombing and killing anyone who got in their way. Of course while they were brilliant at dishing it out, as the corporal from dads army said, they 'didn't like it up em'..........

A bit dark for a primetime comedy...

I know mate, but I'm sure it was no laughing matter for the 'guests'............but of course the citizens of Dresden probably knew nothing about it......... " I wonder what happened to all those nice Jewish people who had all the shops"....they probably said..........
