Been confirmed as Bolton manager today.

Crystal Palace have confirmed that Dougie Freedman has joined Bolton as their new manager.
He replaces Owen Coyle, who was sacked after Wanderers were relegated from the top flight in May and then made a poor start to the Championship season.

Has he really left for a bigger club? I think Palace have a good chance of going up this year so I really don't understand this.

Arguable.

I didn't think he'd done wonders at Palace TBH. Suprised to see a promotion chasing club go for him.

I think he's done well at Palace, will be interesting come the end of the season. If Palace can hold onto their players then they will be challenging the playoffs

I think he's done OK. It's still a long, long way to go in the championship though.

To be fair to him I've always had the impression from Palace that iot's not an easy club to manage. Especially when that crazy fool Jordan was there.

Confirmed; Whogie Freedman has left for Bolton.
:@
He was reportedly the lowest paid manager in the Championship on £125k basic and will be on £1.5m at Bolton. He went because (according to our chairman) he believes Bolton have more ambition. Doubtless he will be back to unsettle our better players come January (Bolton had a bid for Zaha turned down last January) and I expect to see N'Gog coming on loan quite soon. :(
Bolton's parachute payment (or reward for failure) will be about five times what we make this season so we're not playing on a level playing field anyway.
This is not the first time this has happened, we were playing well under Bruce about ten years ago when Shady Brady led him astray to St. Andrews.
It seems living within your means (ie paying what you can afford) is not the answer either.

Chant at Oakwell tonight from the travelling South London faithfull;

DOWN WITH THE BOLTON, YOU'RE GOING DOWN WITH THE BOLTON!!:bye:

Since Moyes joined Everton in March 2002 Palace have had;

Steve Bruce, Trevor Francis, Steve Kember, Kit Symons, Iain Dowie, Peter Taylor, Neil Warnock, Paul Hart, George Burley and Dougie Freedman.

Maybe he gets two fresh loaves of extra thick Warburtons delivered to his door every morning as part of his contract.

Tempting that you know.
