This one is to be watched too:
IK Pegasi (or HR 8210)
IK Pegasi (or HR 8210) is a binary star system in the constellation Pegasus. At a distance of about 150 light years from the Solar System, it is just luminous enough to be seen with the unaided eye
IK Pegasi B is the nearest known supernova progenitor candidate. When the primary begins to evolve into a red giant, it is expected to grow to a radius where the white dwarf can accrete matter from the expanded gaseous envelope. When the white dwarf approaches the Chandrasekhar limit of 1.44 solar masses, it may explode as a Type Ia supernova
A Type Ia supernova within a thousand parsecs (3300 light-years) is thought to be able to affect the Earth
the space velocity of this star relative to the Sun is 20.4 km/s. This is equivalent to moving a distance of one light year every 14,700 years. After 5 million years, for example, this star will be separated from the Sun by more than 500 light years...
Lets hope it doesn't go any time for the next 65 million years.....
Then we should be fine!
