Dons vs. Dons

I don't know why Mk Dons insist on being called "MK Dons"

Most of their fan base have no connection with Wimbledon, so why on Earth do they want to cling to another clubs name so much?

Surely they'd want their own identity?

I don't see why they can't just call themselves "MK City"
I can only assume it was to demonstrate it was an existing club relocating rather than one dissolving and a new club being formed, which would've seen them starting in the non-leagues like AFC had to.

Would be boss if they were named the "Animal Spirits," but I suppose that's another Keynes.

(As well as extremely nerdy.)

Why? They're effectively nothing to do with each other, one is a Milton Keynes club, the other is a Wimbledon club. The old Wimbledon was pretty much dead and buried, and the owners had little choice but to consider their options further afield.

I'd think it would be pretty embarrassing for MK to realize that not only have they not kicked on at all from where they were before, but a grassroots club formed mostly to spite them has worked all the way up from what, the 9th tier and finished above them in a little over a decade.

I get that, true, but high-profile non-league clubs tend to rapidly rise through the leagues, FC United are only one step from the conference now.

Whereas for MK Dons, they just took the same middling team, in the same tough league, to a new area.

I never really understood the reasons behind forming that club. If Everton fans made a club every time they disagreed with club's choices, there would be at least five New Saint Domingos!

If we don't get Bramley Moore dock stadium, i'm going to start a Balkanian Toffies FC! :)

Err, mate, that's sort of how we ended up giving birth to Liverpool FC.

We learned long ago that that was a bad idea.
