Player Valuation: £90m
Apologies if there is already a post on this.

What is still possibly the most famous English club in the womens' game is to be relegated at the end of this season, despite the fact that the womens' season is one game old. The club that will replace them is already confirmed as being the ladies team of Manchester City.

A new low for the FA, even with the outrageous franchising thats going on in the WSL.

Donny fan dropping by here. Thanks to the OP for posting this.

With the fine history of womens footy in your city, I'm sure most of you have an idea of who Donny Belles are, but in case you don't, very briefly, they are only club that has been in the top tier of womens footabll since it began in 1991. They won the league twice, runners up 7 times. Most of their time they have been independent of Doncaster Rovers and any income and support from that (questionable how much that would be from such a minnow I know ;) ) and have still managed to survive, only recently affilialting themselves with DRFC. Basically a true grass roots set up, achieving what they have on merit and now shafted by the FA who deal in £'s not goals.

There is a petition at www dot petitionbuzz.com/petitions/doncasterbelles (sorry, not enough posts here to make the clickable link) in support of them in this situation. Please can you take the 30 secs to sign it and facebook and tweet the link which can be done in a click from the petition.

Thanks for reading :)

The Belles may finish bottom this season, in which of course its fair enough to be relegated, though with this decision after just one game of the season, players are likely to leave through the season anyway. Liverpool were bottom last season. Man City will finsh 4th at best in the second tier. Money talks eh... to the FA anyway.

Here's a letter I received from the FA "explaining" their decision, my bold. Note that players come 4th in the list. Donny are fine with all the criteria, bar they have less £/$'s in the bank.:

Thank you for contacting the Football Association.

The adjudication process will remain confidential between the involved parties as the information is sensitive. Below are the four main criteria by which the process was conducted.

1) Financial and business management
2) Commercial sustainability and marketing
3) Facilities
4) Players, support staff and youth development

The future of The FA WSL from 2014 forms a key part of the overall objectives of ‘Game Changer’, The FA’s new five year plan. This also includes the creation of an Elite Performance Unit, growing player participation and a new individual commercial strategy for the women’s game.<snip>

That language they use is just awful. All very bureaucratic and soundbitey.

Good luck, the Belles!

"Commercial strategy".

What an absolutely ****y phrase.
