Don’t condemn the ‘I want it now generation.’

No, its called being frustrated and having no outlet, are you saying you've never misbehaved? smashed a window? done something naughty? I know i have. I was frustrated by everything until i worked out life has no manual.

Frustration is just an excuse bry. We all bemoan our lot in life from time to time, some accept it is their own responsibility to change things whilst others pull the kind of sh*t we have seen this week.
If anything they should be called the 'it was their fault' generation.

The point I was trying to make was that the kids I teach can't make the connection between feeding a family or themselves. All they see is price and the impact of now, so the ready meal is their quickest and fastest option to them . I, more tham anyone can see how the price of food has rocketed, and its impact.

2 to 3 quid for a chicken?

what size? newly hatched i would assume more like a fiver now for family sized bird

The cost of food is sky rocketing

I was goin on an offer I saw in Asda the other day. Granted, to feed a FAMILY you're looking at £5-6+ It's getting mental. Where will it stop?

I have, and frequently do, make broths in a lock stock pan that cost pennies and are nutritious and enough to feed a whole family. During the war our parents ate offal and rations and yet we didn't have this kind of situation. The country has faced far worse poverty than the luxurious poverty it currently faces. Please stop trying to excuse basic greed. (That's a general point ling, not related to your post).

It's all relative though isn't it? I mean it's probably ten times that to feed a family in a restaurant. It's possible to eat cheaply if you buy fresh food in bulk, cook it, freeze it, reheat it. Most of the things I cook provide 4/5 healthy and nutritious dishes and the ingredients probably cost under a tenner.

Hehe, not going to take offense :)

The price of food is mental at the moment,it doesnt excuse people not doing their own cooking and relying on frozen food of course that has its place of course but all the time? not for me i cant buy my wifes scouse in the shops etc so fo rme frozen food is something that i eat maybe 2 or 3 times a month, though i do have a chippie tea on a friday and i enjoy it a hell of a lot.

I agree with you mate its easier and frankly nicer to have homemade food (cba with a roast tomorrow wanted a full on shepards pie with rice pudd) roughly it cost what 4 quid for everything whereas last year it would have cost maybe half that or just over,i guess the point i was trying to make is food has gone up wildly, but its still far cheaper to make your own yet so many choose not too.

I completely agree with you. This is something that I frequently do. For example, last week, I made shepherds pie and spag bol - both had left overs and were frozen to be had at a later day. The frustrating bit about my job is that the kids aint interested in this principle, because they wont put the hard work into making it. :(
