I'd suggest swinging clubs to be the 'in between' thing here - don't tell the wife about the past because, well, that ends one way - badly. However, bring up an interest in swinging and suggest visiting a club. Doesn't involve freezing temperatures, basically a nightclub with sex involved.

If she has no interest, don't force it. If she rejects and you're that sexually unhappy in your relationship that you need to go dogging, consider ending the relationship.
