The other half wants another 1. She said she always felt safe when I was working away with Molly there. But I would be really worried in case the same thing happened again. It wouldn't be fair on the dog.

You should let your neighbor know whats happened attach no blame , but ask him to stop baiting poison as you will let the LA know as they have pest control officers in my time they always put signs up warning humans - never mind pets...... -your jack russell could have solved the problem for him by him taking a lower side board out of the decking for it to gain access - great mousers, and ratters - what's the point of getting another dog if you are scared to let it out in your garden? a polite word may just pave the way for you to get another dog - best of luck
