PITA

Player Valuation: £60m
My wife got a puppy 4 weeks ago. It is now 12 weeks.
She is feeding it Dr John puppy food. On the bag it says feed it approx. 300g per day.

She has been feeding it about 30g three times a day which is woefully short of what the maker recommends. She has grown from 2kg to 3.8kg in the 4 weeks she has been with us. The vet is happy with her but I can't reconcile what the bag recommends.

Can anyone advise what they fed their puppies?

We fed our 8wk old puppy - Bakers Purina Puppy Food.
3 cups a day , but we left the food out all day and Chester just grazed. Weight gain is natural in the early weeks and what you said seems pretty normal. If the vet is happy , then I wouldn't worry , they are pretty hot on diet and weight issues .
Chester is now 2 years old and weighs a whopping 40Kgs.

90g a day seems like very little.

I was giving my puppy about 300g a day at 12 weeks, in two feeds if I remember right.

Depends on the food and the weight of the dog though really.

Our pups always start of on royal cannin puppy food for first 9 months or so, very good for promoting muscle, bone and cell development, very expensive though.

Our vet then advised us to intergrate chappie dry and wet of all things (it’s packed with fish) and they love it. As pups I often give them 1 very well scrambled egg every few days, they still have the odd one now. Also get the frozen chicken breasts few times a month as they are great and relatively inexpensive.

Good luck with mans best friend.
