Does anyone follow a second team?

First thing I look for after our result is Tranmere's. Went to a few games in the nineties when funds were short and most of their games were played on Friday nights. Seen plenty of ours go there later in their careers too.

Been fortunate to go games all over Germany throughout the years and really enjoyed the experience at Werder Bremen and St Pauli. Check out for there results now and again and both hope they do well. Wouldn’t say I’m a fan of either but good they both do well and hope both go up to the bundesliga next season.

@NeroCeasar I forgot to mention i would rate Citys draw with Bayern Munich, as Corks greatest ever sporting achievement along with the all Ireland double of 1990.

People like Dave Barry represent Corks sporting greatness for me. He won two all Ireland senior medals in gaelic football, and a league title winners medal with Cork City in 1993. Do you have any interest in how Cork get on in GAA, or are you just an out and out Cork City FC man only?

The funny thing in Cork is that even amongst the GAA heads, you have people who are only into the hurling, and have no time for gaelic football at all!
Funny because I was only talking about the Bayern Munich game last night with an old school friend I hadn't seen in years when I met him in Turners Cross. My mother had a stroke that morning so instead of being in Musgrave I was above in the regional with her (to this day I have never forgiven her tbh ??) but she is a healthy 73 now thank god.
I look out for the football results, Hurling is the greatest sport in the world bar none but I wouldn't have any time for the GAA as an organisation tbh, I haven't paid to go into a gaa game since 2000 and at this stage I doubt I ever will again

Well the main man running the GAA in Cork for years, Frank Murphy was one nasty piece of work. A lot of the county board officers over the years, were extremely backwards thinking people as well. I never understood the hatred some GAA folk have towards soccer and rugby tbh.

He is the reason I stopped going. A Saturday evening in Kilarney in 2000, Cork played Kerry in 1/4 final of munster hurling championship, 3 of us quing to go in and one of the lads on the 32 man training panel who had been left out of the match day panel joined us. He then took out his money and paid to go in saying County board hadn't given him a ticket but he was due back at training on the Tuesday night. Driving home I said to the lads, I'm not going again until Murphy is gone and I stuck to it

Cork have only won four senior all Irelands in both codes since 1990, the redeveloped Pairc Ui Chaoimh is proving to be a serious financial burden as well.

He finally effed out the door in 2018, but Frank has caused serious damage to the GAA in Cork. Him and his cronies left one hell of a mess after them.

I mean Cork could have won a football all Ireland in 1988, but Frank kicked Dave Barry off the panel just because he wanted to play soccer for Cork City as well!

Thankfully Billy Morgan managed to overrule Frank, and got him back in the panel for 1989 though. Sure didn't Frank try to kick Billy Morgan out as manager in 1991 as well.lol

It's stuff like that, the way the ordinary rank and file members were treated by the man as well, that annoyed me. I'll always respect Donal Og Sean Og and the rest of the hurling gang, for finally standing up to him tbh.

Seriously i could go on about Frank, and the sickness that is Cork GAA politics all day and night really!
