Be careful, With inflation in this league, 10 million is the new 5 million.
 
Well, the people of the People's Club have spoken - landslide to keep AJ (all those 'if' options are bollocks, discount them...'if we get Dickov' should have been in there to balance it out).

Though years ago Moyes could have got Bent for around £3m when he bought Marcus. Really not sure why he didn't have a punt at the time.
 
Hopefully we will keep AJ. I'm really not convinced about Darren Bent for me he is the new Andy Cole needing loads of chances to score a goal. Ok some will say the same could be said of AJ, but AJ will create opportunities and work hard for the team. AJ also has a top attitude and will not go off in a strop.

thank you thank you thank you, i'm so sick of people saying that 10 - 12 million is a good return on the striker.

10-12 million will not have the same buying power that 8.6 million had when we first bought johnson 2 years ago, 8.6 mil broke our transfer record at the time, but now if anything its closer to the amount of money we'd spend on a squad player

i don't know if johnson should necessarily start, personally i think in the near future he will be ready to take up a starting spot, but at the moment, if he's content with making substitute appearances to turn games in the late stages, then i don't see the problem there.

Johnson made 9 substitute appearances last term, of those 9 he scored in three games, and even in the ones he didn't score he made crucial off the ball contributions (someone had mentioned pompey)

My biggest problem with moyes through out the years is his management of subs, particularly bringing them on too late, but he seems to utilize AJ as a wondersub well (similar to how he used mcfadden), so if AJ is content here i don't see any reason why he should leave.
 
okay quick update on that, this is shaping up to be pretty interesting

as i post this, we're at 15 saying yes unconditionally, 36 saying no unconditionally, 15 that say only if we sign bent, and 6 saying only if we don't.

if you add those up, thats 36 who don't want him to leave regardless, and 36 who'd be okay with him leaving with or without some condition, though obviously the people in the different Bent categories contradict so it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to add them together

all in all i'd say its completely inconclusive, though i'd say more people (of those who answered the poll) would be happy with us keeping him, as if we sold him then all of the people in one of the two Darrent Bent categories would be unhappy no matter what.

There's only two answers to calculate in that poll: yes or no. The rest is nonsense. As I said on another post, maybe we could have had another category - 'Should we sell Andy Johnson if the replacement was Paul Dickov?'

Landslide to keep AJ is the result here.
