I don't know what my annual tax thing is. But having recently started working at M&S I've just been looking at my payslips and found out that I'm being taxed 20%. Which seems a bit bloody steep. Just worked out that for the past month when I deduct rent, tax, NI and bills from my overall earnings, I'm barely earning any money at all. Begging the question why I'm even bothering to work so hard (did 53 hours last week) when it seems I was better off financially sat at home over the summer on jobseekers allowance. The real world can bite me.
