Do you take more than you give from taxation?

It puts you on a scale of 1 to 10, from 7 to 10 means you pay out more than you receive.

I am down the bottom of that list tbh. As someone that is self employed though things are put back into my accounts as 'wages', such as 4/5 of fuel, part of phone bills etc. Now if say 5k is spent on fuel then 4k is put back as 'personal use' as in 'wages' but out of that 4k over 50% will be paid out in fuel tax and vat, so figures are often distorted.

I've got a nice little balance there. Thanks Bruce. Very kind of you. Just think of the rest of the country bailing out your sector to the tune of £500 billion and you'll feel a whole lot better about it.

I don't know what my annual tax thing is. But having recently started working at M&S I've just been looking at my payslips and found out that I'm being taxed 20%. Which seems a bit bloody steep. Just worked out that for the past month when I deduct rent, tax, NI and bills from my overall earnings, I'm barely earning any money at all. Begging the question why I'm even bothering to work so hard (did 53 hours last week) when it seems I was better off financially sat at home over the summer on jobseekers allowance. The real world can bite me.

But apparently it's impossible to be worse off working than on the dole.

This is Tory Britain for you.
