Do you regret being mean about Big Sam?

Do you think Allardyce was treated harshly and his tenure needs re-evaluation?

Posting this in here as it's not meant to be fully serious. But many a true thing and jest etc.

Back in the 2017/2018 season we took on our Lord and Saviour Sir Samuel of Allardyce. Not a universally popular appointment, many had grave (gravy?) concerns about the style of football and his tendency to use 'spin' to paint himself in a favourable light.

Fears that came to pass. Some uninspiring football and, in some eyes, inflated talk of our dire position. Cue a rarely united forum indulging in gravy and weight related gags and agitating for a series footballing future.

The counterpoint, of course, was a pragmatic and organised team who finished respectably.

So, in light of the following seasons (and our current situation) were we too hard on large Samuel?

I still believe it was potentially the best club job he could've had.
Hindsight is a great thing but after the current incumbent, would've more time for Samuel been a bad thing?

It's a tough one, because bar Bolton he's never really stayed anywhere too long. So there wasn't a credible sense of 'could he build a team at a bigger club'. The legacy of his signings doesn't convince too much either (Walcott and Tosun).

Having said that, it was pointed out in the Benitez thread he did scrap results with a poo and injury hit squad. Something we lack at the moment. But us that basis for a long term tenure? Probably not.

Edit: a reasonable stint at West Ham too

If he was crap what does that make Benitez.
He's doing crap isn't he, it's not a secret like lol; Still it is becoming clearer and clearer the problems are mainly down to the players just not having any hunger, passion and worst professional pride.

So Yeah Benítez isn't doing great but there are darker forces at work here that won't be fixed so easily.
