Do some blues want Madrid to win the Big Cup only because of Liverpool?

Most of you probably noticed a couple of fellow blues controversially wanting us to lose against Man Utd, as it would heighten the chances Man Utd would score one more league title over Liverpool (even tho' our neighbours are in no fit state to challenge for the foreseeable future).

And not quite so bad, some blues, while wanting us to win today, still would prefer Man Utd to win the title generally, because of the same Liverpool-obsessed point.

So does that mean that quite a few Evertonians want Mourinho to win the Champions League for Real Madrid, regardless of who they play against, only because it would put him level with Bob Paisley at 3 trophies?

EDIT: an alternative is some blues might support a Barcelona victory because it would mean Barcelona equalling Liverpool's 5 Big Cups. This is more in line with the thinking behind wanting Man Utd to win more league titles, as it devalues Liverpool in the record books.

I'm just trying to understand this kind of reasoning and am wondering how many of you out there really do care about the red team so much that things like this matter.

Paradoxically, even our famous song (which our forum is named after) is obsessed with the red team, while pretending it's not:

we don't care what the red side say
what the heck do we care?


well...we care enough to waste two whole lines of our short anthem on them...maybe we care enough to influence how we watch football matches entirely unrelated to either Merseyside club.

I only care about them in that I want them to lose every game they play, but I don't care enough that matches which transcend Liverpool are affected.

What about you? Do you want Mourinho to pull level with Paisley? Do you want Man Utd to win one more title than that lot?

I'm so ambivalent toward them its untrue. I just couldn't care less what they're doing, and as for actively wanting Everton to lose to spite Liverpool, I find that pathetic.

Aside from the obvious bellends every set of fans has, they're OK, and I like the rivalry we have.

well said, mate...i've met plenty of nice kopites watching our derbies at irish pubs...we've got good banter going on. i probably should have added a 4th option:

"kopites are our neighbours, not our enemy".

wow, another one calling me a kopite? this is what i mean, some of you are so obsessed that any kind of challenging discussion is dismissed as being of a kopite.

it's tricky letting political ideologies get in the way of football-loyalties, mate...look how poisonous it's made the Glasgow fans towards each other.

i enjoyed the Galacticos because their football was sumptious (and Roberto Carlos is probably my favourite all-time player who isn't Evertonian or German). But when they got rid of Del Bosque so stupidly and after that cvnt Rijkaard left Barca my La Liga allegiance shifted to the Catalans (Guardiola's beautiful game helps).

In terms of Spanish teams, I like Athletico Madrid. Mainly because of the boss footy manager season I had with them a few years ago.

Barca > Real though.

This part is the biggest stand out point of your post mate, I don't see how Mourinho winning a third Champions League would affect any Everton fan on the basis of Paisley winning 3??? Surely the reason for wanting Madrid to win the trophy would be that they'd have reached 10 Champions League Trophies, another ahead of them lot.
