Each case is individual.

And there lies the issue.

That was kinda the conclusion that the Labour attorney general, or whatever he was at the time, Lord Faulkner arrived at iirc. Folk compare being able to put a pet down, but as an owner, you choose to have a dog, and its your responsibility as their custodian. No one chooses to be a child.

And dogs rarely leave an inheritance. More a musty smell.

Has to be a decision made beforehand, so in future your living will might say in the event of locked-in syndrome/paralysis where I am unable to communicate please give me a lethal concoction of drugs.

It’s too open for abuse imo

My job involves me reading significant amounts of reports of incidents of abuse of old people in care homes - financial, physical, sexual, emotional. I'm sure there are lovely care homes with kind dedicated staff. Unfortunately I only see the dregs and the lowlife. I have told my kids that I do not ever want to be in a care home. I fully intend to make sure that never happens. But it will be my decision and only mine.

i had a close friend decided to go to Dignitas once his brain tumour has grown to the point where it severely impacted on his quality of life. He’d announced months before that this was his plan then he quietly slipped off and did it once the time came.

I had another friend who hung himself once his illness became too much to bear.

I know which path was the most dignified and caused the least pain for the families.
