So a member of the shadow cabinet has posted on tiwtter that "white people like to divide and rule".

Now why is she still in her job? Probably because she is a black female.

It is far from the worst remark you will find floating round twitter but this is a woman who has campaignedfor , indeed made a career from, equality.

The taken out of context apology isn't good enough, had a white made a similar comment they would have their P45 instantly and rightly so.

EQUALITY people we all have to be treated the same.

As soon as she said "white people..." the law would say other wise.

She can't use parliamentary privilege protection either as this wasn't stated inside parliament.

It's almost a case of reaping what you sow I guess. Like Nik I don't think the comment is racist and merely a stupid comment that demands pity rather than anger. Yet the situation is such now that any comment like this said by people of whatever race is jumped upon and hypercharged with meaning and intent that probably never existed when it was said.

Certain sections of society have played this card to their advantage significantly. Suppose if you live by the sword you die by the sword.

it might be a worthwhile exercise to put the case before the CPS... they'll undoubtedly bounce it, but it'd take the wind out of the sails of the likes of the BNP / EDL who I presume are already taking a lengthy run up :/

It's widely known she holds pretty dodgy views. She's made numerous gaffes of this sort and has installed a very firm "us and them" mentality in her constituency to solidify her position.

I didn't want to tar all minority groups with the same brush, but some people, of whatever colour, do seem to take offence remarkably quickly. I don't care what colour folks skin is, but if it was a touch thicker it would do no harm and let society focus on the serious instances of discrimination that still exist.
