What's change with our defending of free kicks corners and crosses. We seem absolutely awful this season.

Is this Howard's fault? Two centre halfs?

we dont hold players down like teams do to us so we end up giving the opposition a free run at the ball which is very difficult to defend against hence why all the other teams do so much wrestling - plus Howard takes no pressure of his defence

Basic stuff like putting our tallest player on their best header of the ball at set pieces, we don't seem to. It's all a bit messy in the box, no organisation.

I think it's yet another reason to think about moving Fellaini. The defence doesn't seem to be able to deal with high balls, so having him sat in front of them makes sense.

Something's going to have to be done about the centre halves at the end of this season. Neither Distin nor Heitinga are ideal partners for Jagielka, so one or both of them need to move on.

Jags needs a lump of a defender who can win headers to partner. Distin (don't know about Duffy as haven't seen enough of him) seems the best we have to fit the bill because lets be honest Jags has lost some of his spring and is not the best in the air.

Once sides start conceding regularly from set pieces, then it makes defending them tense & nervous, which leads to further mistakes & gives the opposition encouragement. Our back line hasn't changed so there's no logical reason why we've suddenly become gash at defending corners, so it just needs some work on the training ground to tighten up & a couple of games to pass were we don't concede from one & it'll disappear into the ether

Zonal marking works better than man marking if done properly. Problem is it's hardly ever done properly.

Don't matter what distin said you can clearly see they play zonal marking when you see smiths goal on Tuesday there players was on the edge of the box and area were on the six yard box
