Defender a top priority

Wouldn't surprise me if we went in for someone like Distin. I know Villa are interested and at 31 he's not going to cost alot.

He's a left sided centre back who's also played left back at times during his career. I know he's been slated a few times on this forum but on the cheap, as backup, I'd take him.

Dustbin's more likely to go Villa being they've flogged Zak Knight.

I was just thinking about who to get when/if Lescott leaves. To my mind there aren't that many obvious names that would just slot in. Granted my knowledge of the Championship is very limited, but in the PL I don't really see anyone who could do the job.

Micah Ricards, Richard Dunne and Michael Ball could all do a job. Richards might prove to be even better with Moyes guidance, but who knows.

Who could replace Lescott?

It'll be a loan signing.

Its going to be hard enough keeping three international centre backs happy from November onwards when Jagielka's back.
Perhaps, but Yobo will leave in Jan/Feb due to the ACN. And just because Jags will have shaken off his injury in November, doesn't mean he will be back to match fitness by then.

We start off being told we need 5 or 6 players, now we are told a defender is the top priority? It looks like that means we will sign ONE player. Thats if we even manage that. :( I could see all those young players we've signed recently, getting a game or two this season at some point.
