Woman fell from the third floor balcony, right between the escalators. Loud scream and big bang, shocking. Store evacuated, ambulance called, sadly the woman has died.

A woman has died after plunging from the third floor at Primark in Liverpool City Centre.

An investigation is underway after a woman fell to her death at a city centre clothing store this evening (Tues).

Witnesses on the ground floor at Primark, Church Street, reported hearing a loud bang as the woman, in her 50s, fell from the third floor.

Paramedics attended the store at around 6pm and took the woman to the Royal where she was pronounced dead.

The woman was seen near the balcony of the third floor moments before the incident.

Merseyside Police said a full investigation is being carried out to establish the circumstances of what happened and are urging any witnesses to get in touch.

This has happened before, a little girl fell from there a few years ago, but thankfully she survived. They need to sort this out.

Terrible.

I'm sure this happened to a kid who survived - what's going on there?

Sorry mate, just added a bit to my post. Yeah, you're right, a little girl fell there a few years back but she survived.

You'd think they'd have learnt their lesson from that and made it safer.

Is there some sort of gap on that balcony which people could fall through? Otherwise I wonder how she managed to fall off>

apparently the kid fell from the same place, the kid I can maybe understand if they're messing about climbing and stuff

but a 57 year old woman ??? bit strange isn't it?

It would be prudent for the exact facts to come out before conclusions are jumped to.

Straight aways its BLAME now and it might not be the case.

Someone's mum/sister/auntie/friend won't be going home tonight and that's the biggest shame right now.

RIP girl.

That's what I don't get. It also happened to a man around the same age as the woman a couple of years back. The kid as you mentioned I could kind of understand, but even then, how are they even able to climb on something three floors up and not with their parents who should be looking at them?

Very true.

I tell you what though, it doesn't matter whose fault it is, the store needs to make sure this never ever happens again. One death is one death too many. It's a shop in the centre of town with footfall of thousands of people every single day.
