David Weir / Sol Campbell

Get Stubbsy to dust the old boots off and we'll have all 3 at the back for the rest of the season!. Weir as a coach fair enough, maybe registered as a player if were really desperate but i wouldnt entertain Sol Campbell, been out of the game too long and when he was playing a while back he was out of shape so i imagine he wont be fit at all.

Weir was a good defender in his prime but why would we have him as a coach? We already havge one dour scottish central defender coaching....and look where that is getting us.

Perhaps Peter Reid could come and coach the midfield on how to tackle, win the ball and then pass it FORWARD. That would make me happier.

so because weir is scottish, a central defender and dour that means he cant coach!! oh well so long as you're not stereotyping thats fine then

I loved Davey when he was here, good leader, wasnt scared of anyone, I know we dont need another defensive influence around, but at least the likes of Weir, Stubbs and Dunc could instill some fight in the lads, as Moyes cant be bothered anymore.

Fair question...and I may have been stereotyping just a little. But my point was simply that (and I don't actually have anything Scots or defenders whether dour or not) but I think that we really need some coaching from someone with a bit of flair.

Weir was an extremely solid defender but I feel that he may have spent too much of his career being coached by the likes of Moyes and Walter Smith and, although anything is possible, one would have to wonder where he would have acquired his "coaching" ideas from if not from them.

As the Manolas deal has gone Pete Tong it looks as if Davey Weir is going to be the defensive "back up" plan, source = someone at Finch Farm
