David Moyes is determined to keep all his best players at Everton this summer and insists Phil Neville still has a lot to offer the club on the pitch.

Neville turned 35 in January and has been tipped to take on a role in the coaching team of new England manager Roy Hodgson.

However, Moyes believes that Neville still has a future as a player after leading by example this season with a series of excellent performances for the Toffees.

"I think Phil still sees himself as a player and he's played as well as anyone at Everton this year," said Moyes.
Encouraged

"Players respect him because of his level of professionalism and because he has 59 caps for England.

"He still wants to play. He's a knowledgeable guy and understands what it takes for players to win."

While Neville has been linked with a move into coaching, the likes of Marouane Fellaini, Leighton Baines and Nikica Jelavic have reportedly attracted interest from other clubs.

Moyes thinks those players should resist the temptation to look elsewhere and try to help Everton build on their strong run in the second half of this season.

He said: "It will be important we keep our best players. I hope they're encouraged by how well we're playing.

To be fair, he's been okay recently.

But still.

i have no qualms with him having one more season as a squad player because of his versatality, no more than 15 apps though

More Neville and Hibbert...Its going to be really exciting, lots of good football and trophies galore next season, eh?

Please let him go be an assistant and call it a day. PLEASE.

I personally think he'd be wonderful as a coach, can we just go let him do that?

I've loved Phil ever since he joined, but it was compounded at home to Villa in the FA Cup 2009. He was right over near the paddock and he turned to the crowd as he was about to take the throw in and I stood up and we both looked directly at eachother, into eachothers eyes, and screamed COOOOOOME OOOOOOOONNNN and fist pumped at the same time.

I cherish the memory.

he pumped his fist into you?

People are unfair on both him and Hibbert. Both are great players and if they left we would miss them alot.

Those games were Everton do nothing is why people don't like him. Our system of play relies heavily on an attacking play or cross from the full back, and since everyone under the sun knows to stop baines, it gives our right back a bit more prominence.

This is where the passes to opposition players, terrible crosses and ruining great build up plays with a panicked cross or fumble is why Phil Neville gets the judgement bestowed upon him.

I love it when our attack is fluent, Pienaar and Co bossing it up in the middle, but for some games our focus on attacking is from the overlapping and crossing fullbacks, and thats when ol Nev stinks it up bigtime.
