David Cameron - Merchant of Death

If you stopped people on a random street and asked them if they knew the UK Government sold weapons to wars the world over, you'd probably get funny looks.

The same if you tried to tell people that Banks loan countries money to buy weapons to fight wars on both sides...

Money, money, money.

At least this puppet has come out and said it.

"Merchant Of Death". Your best thread title ever DaveK. Nice.

Got to be said with everything that's going on at the moment Camerons timing is awful now yes it's trade and all that and let's be fair a good war/uprising always does the arms dealers a good year in trade but hell teeth man use a little common sense,i know these jolly ups are aranged months in advance but given the army is in charge in egypt surely someone could have whispered into his ear and told him to call this trip off for now?

It would be nice to believe that Dave readily accepts that all political parties do this (which they do) but I suspect it is another thinly veiled jab at the Tories.

So that's £45bn of arms sold around the world under the Labour admin, not to mention the spurious reasoning behind Iraq. It would be absolutely fantastic if politicians didn't do this and the arms industry (ridiculously branded as 'defence') was significantly reduced, but to suggest this is a Conservative disease is par for the course with the blinkered jingoists.

"Great Britain" Has over the centuries killed and robbed half the known world.....now that things are more civilised, we now sell arms and munitions to everyone else... so that they can kill and rob each other!

The circle of Life - just keeps on turning

all parties do this. i'm more concerned with him destroying great britain.

That's the Dunkirk spirit. It's the mealy mouthed expectation of life handed on a plate that has much more chance of wrecking the country than any action by a politician. The more industrious nations of the world are going to eat us for breakfast over the coming century.

I hold no brief for New Labour and its so called 'ethical' foriegn policy, by the way. They were beyond the pale too. As linglong says, the timing of this tour of the Arab world couldnt have been more crassly timed. At the very least you'd expect some greasy PR trained man like Cameron to realise how distasteful it is and to call off the scheduled visit. But he and his government wanted to steal a march on other nation's arms suppliers to keep their friends in the British affected firms cosily in with the new military leadership in Egypt and assorted dictators wobbling in the region. No doubt there's a big drink in it for them - either individually through directorships when they get kicked out in 2015, or as a massive donation to the Tory Party to fight the next election.

Cameron is up to his elbows in blood. Even the tamest political commentators are now condemning him.

spot on young man. the way he's ripping through the armed forces at the moment is sickening to watch. this government has got it ALL wrong so far, and i wouldn't be surprised to see labour come back in 5 years. not that that would be much of an improvement mind.

armed forces, way over the top cuts, nhs, big society - it's not good at all and why i voted labour with a heavy heart last time out you could see this a mile away.

the laughable part of it is the patronising government phrase 'we are in this together'. sure about that one david?

Fantastic stuff DaveK. I happen to fully agree.

So Cameron and his party got the jump before the next guy?

If he didn't take advantage, someone else would have... Lets be realistic.
