"When meeting Steve Kean, I soon realised the passion, enthusiasm and ambition he has for the club and how much he wants the team to bounce straight back up to the Premier League.

"The owners were also very passionate about their desire to move Blackburn forward as a club and create a squad that is able to achieve promotion

Martin Jol's new look Fulham will be interesting to watch. Hughes basically just kept the Hodgsoin side together, which was fair enough as they were pretty good if all near the end of their careers but Jol seems intent on making changes sooner rather than later.

Age isn't a factor these days for footballers, they have the best treatment and facilities that is why they carry on a lot of them into their late 30s.

Pirlo last night was a case.

Murphy is a ball player anyway not the usual yard dog. He will do a comfortable job in the Championship

Pirlo is two years younger than Murphy. And he's Pirlo. Apart from Scholes and Giggs, are there any central midfielders still playing in the Premier League over 35?

If anyone says Neville I'm going to neg you viciously.

The only one I can think of at the minute, was Tugay, sure he played at Blackburn till he was 38
