Danny Baker sacked for 'racist' tweet.

Sad about this. Other than 4 extra, and Attenborough the only voice on the bbc worth listening to for me.

Sacked by the oversensitive, humour challenged PC brigade, infesting the beeb, the sort who had every blackboard in the uk changed to white boards to save causing offence.

An apology (which was quickly given) is all that's needed.

Any thoughts on this? I know he's Millwall but he doesn't seem the type.

Plenty of views in the Royal Birth thread, but happy for a thread just about it.

Heard him earlier, and he said he didnt even know the baby/mum were mixed race anyrate, such is his disdain for the Royal family. His tweet was designed to be a throwback to the days when chimps etc carried some comedic level, and when more enlightened views were pointed out to him, he deleted it.

I like him on the radio, so I guess its whether you believe him or not. But I am inclined to.

I honestly don’t see how anyone can have avoided knowledge of it short of having no internet/tv, especially not someone who worked in media.

However you try and dress this up, it was racist.

Whether intentional or not.

Posting a photo of a mixed race woman`s new born baby as a chimp in a suit.

The outcome was inevitable.
Tbh I wouldn't have known she was mixed race just from looking at her,
I only know that because every man and his dog made such a big deal out of it....
It's quite sad that people still make a big deal out of something as trivial as the colour of the skin you were born with

Agreed it is hard not to have known with all the news about it, but it could have easily been forgotten or not even thought about it when he posted it, because he wasn't thinking about race when he did.

The thing that really makes that obvious is the fact if he knew the full implications he would have known he was firing himself as soon as he clicked post. Which in the end turned out to be what happened regardless.
