have mentioned daniel sturridge before...i believe we would be in with a chance of signing him, and he would be a great signing, maybe one of the bargains of the summer. Wouldn't cost an arm and a leg and we surely would be able to scrape together the cash for the first installment.

If we don't go in for someone like sturridge, given our striker crisis and budget crisis then the problems are deeper than we thought
 

The main issue is that he would cost actual currency to buy. Around £10m, which at this precise moment is £10m more than we can afford but perhaps an ambitious loan bid as Bolton got him on last season. Though i'd expect if he were to go out on loan again, Bolton would be his preferred choice.

I expect Chelsea will hang on to him as back up this season though. Very good young striker.

No way Chelsea will risk playing Sturridge for a prolonged spell. I'd be delighted if we signed him permanently or on loan. We should try it and stick him in a formation that utilises two strikers.
 

I reckon he'll be one of those players whos price is inflated due to his English nationality a la Henderson. But if not he's brilliant so let's get him!
 

Well yes it would be an awesome signing, but the chances of it happening are more or less zero. Sturridge does want regular games, which obviously is far from guaranteed at Chelsea, so that's a real issue, but Chelsea are determined to keep hold of him, hence the £20m valuation. All signs are that he's unlikely to be loaned out again, and if he was I doubt if we'd be top of the list. I think Chelsea may be getting fed up of losing to us !
 
Would think he would only be available on loan... and that wouldn't be at least for another 4/5 weeks as i suspect Vilas-Boas would want to run the rule over his entire squad during pre-season and seeing if how he wants to keep/offload.
