Da Silva this season?

Anderson Da Silva (if that's what people are calling him this week) has been playing well in the Championship with Barnsley (who were 4th last I looked, but are getting beat by Charlton so that could change).

I think he's played every minute of every game, and the manager seems to rate him there, which is more than can be said for moyes.

Perhaps Moyes just wants to get him accustomed to the premiership, but surely considering the problems we are having there, it could be time for a call up.

If he can pass and has some touch on the ball he could always rotate into europe - as someone with the ability to pass and keep possession is really missing, especially in the more cultured european game. Dont really know much of the player as I've never seen him play, but if he is tidy why not?

My only fear is that Moyes has a damn good reason not to play him, and we'll just have to wait until the transfer window for reinforcements.

He was a Moyes buy so he must have some regard for him. I felt that the championship loan was aimed at getting him more accoustomed to the English game (if we can call it that any more?).

I have asked why some of the kids at the club didn't get a chance durring this crisis, the only one who knows is the Ginger Scot but I to remain surprised that he didn't recall Anderson just must think he's better off where he is.

Might simply be that he thinks that DaSilva and Everton will benefit more if he stays there for a longer time adn return to us with more understanding of the english style of play than to cut the loan short for him to, perhaps, take a place on the bench and just get a few minutes time for a game or two. We have a longer break coming up after the Newcastle game to call him back for that game or for the games we had the last week was a bit unnecessary. Might have been a different story if this would have happened in December when our games are coming close to eachother.

true, but when the games are coming thick and fast in the prem, group stage of europe and the carling cup, he'd be nice to have around methinks.

Don't forget that it's a long season. Vaughan didn't contribute much at all before Christmas last season but had a belting run-in. I'd be surprised if he didn't play some part this season.

I'm glad a topic like this came up because I was thinking about it as well. Hes brazilian, surely he has good ball skills and good control of the ball - something that our midfield is currently lacking.

Even if he is nothing special, he could provide what we need to steady the ship.

I was thinking that as well. All the midfielders seem very comfortable on the ball, and can play one two's better than our current crop. Given that Moyes is trying to make is a better footballing side, alongside a strong work ethic, he can't do any worst than nick some of their players.

Edmar looked better than ossie but i just can,t give up on ossie i still think he can make it,i know a lot don,t on here and thats fair comment but if he gets consistent and stronger he could still be a big player for us.

That's a big "IF".

The lad plays with his heart and I can't fault his desire to do well, but he just can't keep up to the standards at the moment. If he had the skill to do a midfielder/defender or two I wouldn't judge his strength or build. But he can't, he isn't a dribbler. He's not techical enough to get away with it, and too lightweight to be able to stand up to an average midfielder in the PL in a duel.

I's love to see him develop that strength, but I fear he might go along the path made by Cadamarteri and the other great prospects we've had over the years. My guess is that this year is his make or break year in the squad.

I'd let Da Silva stay where he is for the time being and continue to get first team football.

I don't think that he'd add anything more to the midfield than what we have at the moment and when Cahill & Gravesen are healthy, he'd just fall further down the pecking order. No sense in bringing him back for that.
