How do you view online consumer reviews?

I put angry but it depends on the review obviously and overall can be a useful indicator as long as they haven't been review bombed by disgruntled customers and the gripes are genuine. I just personally couldn't be bothered and think it's a bit anal. I am a hypocrite though as I use such sources,.

Yeah, I think they are most helpful when deciding I'd to use an unfamiliar online retail company. But I am quite fond of blatant grudge held reviews, or instances where the proprietor fights back. The pettier the better. Some crackers on RatedPeople (trades oriented site).

There used to be a site years ago, I can't remember it's name it got taken down as it was quite lively and had mainly neg reviews but it was anything goes kind of job. Used to be a funny read that like.

We were looking at booking a holiday for next year in Turkey and were recommended a specific hotel, so I went straight on TripAdvisor to read their replies.

The hotel looks lovely on paper, with great facilities and good reviews, but their replies to their customers suggests they aren't a very helpful bunch of people.

Their basic response to complaints about food and drinks, a common trend, is, 'Well look on our website and it's clear." We swerved them for that alone.
 
I leave reviews for pubs normally, both positive if quality beer is well kept and reasonably priced, or the food is decent and reasonably priced -

Or negative - if the beer is unimaginative, a rip-off and the food portions tiny and over-priced - I'm looking at YOU gastro-pubs.

The missus has learned to not take me anywhere that might do neuveau cuisine, bloody thieves!
