As most of us seem to agree we're in a mini league for that 4th spot. City utd and Chelsea take the top 3 slots.
The battle has begun Coyb!! ...... Will try and update as we go.

........................P......GD....Pts...
1 Everton...........6........6.......13
2 Spurs..............6........3.......11
3 Arsenal............6........6........9
4 Newcastle........6........0........9
5 Liverpool.........6.......-3........5

While I do appreciate your effort, you can glance that quickly from the league table by just skipping the lesser (and the bigger) sides. For it to be a minileague, should you not only count games between the mini-league sides?

i think we'll be quite a few points away from the RS by the end of the season. but if you add their inevitable 6 points against us to that table then they're top. WBA have had 3 quite tough games and come out of it with 7 points, a team i thought could push us a bit last season. don't expect them to last, but they could very well take 8th

I like it, think it's a brilliant idea. We need to focus on these teams and having a good snapshot on how we are performing relative to our closest competitors is a great way to guage how our season is going and what our achievable aims can be.

We are not going to finish in the top 4.

People moan at negative kneejerks but two good results out of three and suddenly we're top 4 material? Hardly anyone held that view before the season started.

Get a grip.

i tend to agree, it's just a carry on from our form from last season and the fact we've strengthend quite well, whilst arsenal, liverpool and possibly spurs have all weakened their squads as well as all being in europe. i personally think spurs could be stronger, but they've started the season shoddily. tbh i think we do have an outside chance, but that's just early season optimism. once gibbo gets his 1st loss under his belt, they'll keep on coming

It's not impossible of course but we're not in a freaking mini league of contenders. How can you gauge that 3 games into a season?

I'd be inclined to agree Roofles but it doesn't do any harm is someone wants to do this and keep track of it. I've got us finishing anywhere between 5th and 7th.

We're not no, but it is the only real thing that matters in terms of league form.

Since we're neither going to win the league or get relegated basically our season comes down to whether we finish 4th or not. I don't think there's much chance of us doing so but it's literally the only thing we have any chance at all of doing in the league this season that will actually make a difference so you can't blame people for thinking about it.

If the answer is conclusively no, then basically all that matters this year is the cup games and getting to 40 points.
