The Cures first 2 albums, especially 17 Seconds, were brilliant. But Love Cats et al left me a bit cold tbh. The Smiths were just brilliant for the brief time they recorded though. So Smiths for me.

Never really considered them a "top 5 of all time British bands" candidate though. Sorry JD.

Which in itself shows how utterly brilliant these little islands are re music. We really are boss.

Seen the Cure at Leeds Festival. Pretty good, although thought Kasabian were the better headliner (and Foo Fighters were a bit disappointing).

Saw The Cure at Bristol Colston Hall in 1981 on the "Primary" tour. Was brilliant.

But now I feel old. That is 33 years ago ffs!

"Best of the Smiths" would be a double.
