Just thought I'd post this
Which cup finals have been your favourite's
Obviously I imagine '66 and '95 to rate quite highly on the list
I think the '66 FA Cup Final is one of the best there's ever been. You've got a really good Everton side pulling off a miraculous comeback, you've got some lovely goals and you've got the infamous scene of the fan running onto the pitch and getting tackled by a policeman! Great Stuff!
'95 is not as good a footballing exhibition but it is still a very dramatic match and features a gutsy and defiant Everton performance. Compare it with the horrid 1-0 match the following year form United and Liverpool and its like night and day.
Other finals that I really enjoy would be
1953 Final. Stanley Matthews finally wins a cup medal as Blackpool beat Bolton in a 4-3 thriller
1964 Final. West Ham beat Preston 3-2 in the last minute of second half stoppage time
1973 Final: Sunderland shock everyone by beating Leeds 1-0. Bob Stokoe runs onto the pitch his coat flapping in the wind. Iconic image and a good match to boot.
1977 Final: United and Liverpool have an excellent match that see's United just edge a 2-1 win.
1983 Final: Brighton come from 2-1 down to force Man United into extra time. Brighton almost win it in the last minute of extra time.
1989 Final: Everton and Liverpool have a Wembley classic. Fans chant "Merseyside". Everton come from behind twice but eventually lose 3-2 after giving Liverpool a real fight.
1990 Final: Crystal Palace almost beat Man United after a 2 goal brace from Ian Wright. United eventually claw it back to 3-3 and end up winning the dour replay
1997 Final: Roberto Di Matteo scores the fastest goal in cup final history (A record that would last for 12 years before it was beaten by a certain Louis Saha). Chelsea go on to demolish a feeble Middlesbrough side, making a certain Everton fan from Stockport very happy seeing as the Boro team in question denied Stockport County a place in the League Cup Final of that same year.
