Simple one really. There appears to be a contingent of blues who regardless of the chance of a cup final and potentially our first trophy in a very long time, still want Roberto out. I am in this group. Let me quantify why.

  1. He appears to have little idea how poor the performances have become and the worrying slide down the league has upset the core of blues.
  2. The persistent 'cliche' catchphrase post matches lately which contain the wonderful overused 'phenomenal'.
  3. The inability to keep a clean sheet.
  4. The almost guaranteed loss of Romelu Lukaku this summer.
  5. The Baines incident. Whatever happened, Baines is not the kind to be misquoted is he?
The flipside of the coin is he wins the trophy, and yet all the above still matters a LOT. Don't forget that Roberto won the trophy with Wigan at the expense of their league position. It's not unreasonable to suggest we can go the same way. I have not even considered him losing the semi and the final because that's a conclusion that doesn't need an answer.

I don't start many threads, usually cos they are crap. This one is no different, but i will finish with a voting question, cos i'm genuinally interested to know

Will you be happy and forget this season if he wins the cup or ...

NO MATE! I AM MAINTAINING THE BITTER STANCE TIL THE BITTER END. OUT ROBERTO!

hope we lose 10-0 so Martinez, his backroom staff, his pet mouse and his brown shoe collection are sent into space

Has to go regardless, its 6 games and winning the cup would be amazing after all these years, but next season we can't risk having three teams worse then us.

I don't believe he won the cup at the expense of league position at Wigan. I think the two are separate. Much like we are seeing now, the cup games are sporadic across the season, often against lower league sides. The real proof of a manager's capabilities always lie in league performance. And that is where Martinez fails badly.

So great if he wins the cup, but the league proves he should be out the door.
