Americans regularly try to adapt our thoroughly British programmes and often fail miserably (The Office being a notable exception although the polished American product is a far cry from the original one) - I'm not having a go at American television by any means, although there is plenty of rubbish HBO is so utterly spectacular that it makes up for most everything else, but when they try to do British programmes, it usually doesn't work.
American versions of Life on Mars, Red Dwarf, Shameless, Steptoe & Son among others, awful adaptions

I concur with this wholeheartedly! American versions of British shows are [Poor language removed]! Don't forget Men Behaving Badly, Queer as Folk, Coupling etc etc and soon to be...Top Gear. It will be utterly [Poor language removed] as well.
