Need some advice pls

Going in the summer and hoping to drive from Dubrovnik to Mostar in BH. Just wondering what the roads are like as will have my two kids with me. Driven abroad and happy to do so but just looking for any advice.

Cheers

Roads were sound in the area I visited last summer and driving was a breeze. Didn't drive where you are going though.

I would not drive in Montenegro though. It all looked chaos on their roads

If you wanted a slight detour, you could drive up to Sveti Jure. Lovely road with stunning views of the sea

The area around there was something of a communist riviera during the cold war era. A popular seaside resort for the eastern bloc, so it can appear a little tacky (more Rimini than Blackpool like)

I have been watching coach trip.they have been there a week including an island just off coast.the roads look decent and the countryside looks lovely.makes me want to go someday.

We did a day trip from Makarska to Mostar in September and the roads were fine. I assume you will use a different border crossing but ours was quick and no issues so assume they are all like that. It’s definitely worth the trip.

Agreed, we are thinking of going in the summer and the advice was that they are not the safest roads going.

We drove from Zadar to Dubrovnik via Makarska. As the driver it is a tough, long, very winding drive but for passengers the views are stunning. If the driver tries to enjoy the views there is serious risk of crashing!!

Coming back we crossed into Bosnia- Herz near Dubrovnik and went through amazing moon-like landscape up to Medjugorje - near Mostar. I enjoyed that drive as the road is fairly straightforward and great mountainous views albeit not coastal.

We then went on to Split which is gorgeous.

We are going back in the autumn DV flying to Dubrovnik then relaxing on ferry to Korcula. Going to r&r on the island as Mrs BR has had a tough time since last summer and we may not bother with a car this time.

Enjoy!!

I do wish people would stop publicising this place.
The less people that become aware of the rugged beauty of the landscape, the vivacious dark haired maidens, the delight of Tomislav dark beer, and the climate in summer, the better.
Direct them to the Costas or Canaries and cheap pissy lager, and leave Croatia to the enlightened few.
