MOSHIRI OUT
Anyone following this? Absolutely mental!

That's 6 first teamers who've now terminated their contracts following an ridiculous season which culminated in them getting attacked at their training ground. Rumors the club president, a former ultra is behind it.

Four more Sporting Lisbon players have rescinded their contracts with the troubled Portuguese club.

Portugal internationals William Carvalho, Gelson Martins, Bruno Fernandes and Dutch striker Das Bost all filed notice with the Portuguese Securities Market Commission on Monday that they were breaking their contracts with Sporting. They all claimed "just cause" in emails sent to the commission.

Goalkeeper Rui Patricio and forward Daniel Podence already quit the team two weeks ago, while coach Jorge Jesus left Sporting and signed with Saudi club Al-Hilal last week.

The mass exit comes at the end of a tumultuous season for Sporting with clashes between players and both of the club's most radical fans and its president.

Last month, about 50 fans forced their way into the team's training center and assaulted players and staff. At least one player was injured and the club's changing room was trashed. Police detained more than 20 suspects in the hours following the incident.

In April, outspoken president Bruno De Carvalho harshly criticized his team's performance against Atletico Madrid in the Europa League, and pointed out mistakes by individual players on social media.

The players responded by posting a joint statement defending their commitment to the club and questioning the manners of De Carvalho, saying he should support them as their "leader."

There were recent reports - all unconfirmed - blaming De Carvalho for the attacks by fans on the players and coaches. The president, who reportedly used to belong to a radical fan group, denied the accusations.

Patricio, Carvalho, Martins and Fernandes are all with Portugal in Russia getting ready for their World Cup opener against Spain on Friday.

President seems like an absolute nutjob, Independent done a great article calling him the Donald Trump of football.

I can’t see the Portuguese FA or FIFA letting those players walk away for free
Too much money on the line.
Agents and players involved will make fortunes if this happens.
Agreed transfers at reasonable fees seems the most likely outcome in my opinion
If Sporting drag this through the courts those players won’t kick a ball in anger for all of next season

The Independent piece goes some way to explain why Marco Silva left Sporting also

Imagine how the fans are feeling around this!

Can't they just sack the club President?

Don't see how the players can win if this goes to court. The contract they signed works both ways. They can all ask for a transfer and wait their turn to be sold but there's no way they can just leave without any compensation to the club, even with a lunatic in charge.

They are seemingly using a just cause clause because they are claiming Sporting cannot provide them a safe working envoirmemt.
If this happens it’ll cause more problems than the Bosnian ruling.
I can see employment lawyers all over players contracts.
A player has a row with a manager , gets dropped and claims bullying or unfair treatment as just cause.
Portuguese FA and FIFA won’t allow it happen.
As I said agreed transfers at reasonable fees is the most likely outcome

The President co-ordinated the attacks with the Ultras. He's been using them since he was elected as President.

I can see this dragging on for a while, I would have thought Sporting would try and get some compensation for some of the players, I would have thought that they would get hundreds of millions of pounds for these players under normal circumstances. I think the players should have the right to leave, but the transfers should be set by tribunal, like when a youth player leaves. This would still screw Sporting, they will do well not to be relegated next season
