Cricket ICC "Big Three" Proposal

Proposal that is likely to get pushed through by india England and Australia. Basically gives the Indians English and Australians all the power over world cricket as a 3 country dictatorship, gaining more money, dictating when tours and where tours go etc. It'll be the death of a level playing field in cricket IMO, and the smaller countries like NZ, Sri Lanka, West Indies, Pakistan and South Africa even will die away because of it. As an aside NZ just thumped India in a One Day Series.

because its currently a levelish playing field then the best sides can come from any one of 5 or so countries. This will just have the same effect as the champs league has had on football. And shortsighted too, test cricket is dying in many countries, i cant see this helping.

How are they the big three when the saffers are the best team in the world?

I'm guessing its got very little to do with form/rankings, and a lot more to do with the size of the cricket-watching public in those countries. Total crowd in SA for a 5 day Test is about the same as a single day's attendence in any of those 3 countries.

Tricky one really. I mean, India rake in the majority of the money generated in world cricket, yet it's all distributed kind of evenly amongst all the ICC teams. They want a bigger slice of their own money, which is fair enough when you think about it, the problem is it creates a monopoly and money becomes more important than the game (you could say that's already happened thanks to the popularity of the Twenty20 leagues).

Scrapping the future tours programme is bad news for countries like NZ and Bangladesh, there should be some middle ground.

Money spinning cartel.

Just wait until Ireland get Test status.
can you take boyd rankin back? We are keeping Morgs though. That would be my attitude though the more the merrier, too often in cricket, rugby and other sports we see developing nations ( in terms of the sport) show plenty of promise, only for the money boys to horde everything and slow any development

Well if England stopped nicking our best players we might be in with a shout like.

Morgan can feck off, he's already burnt his bridges with Ireland. Reminds me of Barmby ffs.

You can't grow the game if you don't give teams a start against tougher opposition. Get Ireland, Afghanistan and the Netherlands in there.

It's a long haul and a slow building process, but well worth the future it could bring, look how long it took argentina to get competitive rugby. Figi, tonga, samoa, romania and the likes will always be minnows till the big boys stop pulling the ladder up, the last world cup showed the gap can narrow, if you look at the lack of three figure scorelines that we used to get

Exactly, even in the cricket there's always an Ireland or a Kenya who surprise everyone, we should be encouraging the sport, not leaving it to the accountants and the suits, depressing the current state of the game.

I remeber ireland beating pakistan about 8 years ago, all dodgy betting syndicates aside, you would think any sport worth its salt would jump at the opportunity to get these teams more involved, instead they slam the door shut and say see you in four years boys
