Footballers should do things like this. He should be applauded for it, but far too few use their money to help others. As if you can earn 50k a week and actually spend it all. That's £2,600,000 a year, probably £1,500,000 after tax, and not including other sponsorship deals. Some players earn 4/5 times that, too. If I was a footballer I'd be see as a modern day Florence Nightingale. Good on G like.

I like to think if i were able to play footie as a profession and be in a position to put 500k towards helping needy kids then i'd jump at the chance, lots of respect for players like that. Drogba is another player who has done lots for charity in his home country, he's set up soccer schools for the local kids and even has his own foundation dedicated to helping those kids have a future.

If you're finding faults with someone giving £500k to a Children's Hospital, you need to give your head a massive wobble.

Mr X donates 3 weeks wages and gets tax credits worth how much? good on him yeah fair enough, but it's all about scale 500K not only sounds a lot it IS a lot.

I would like to donate 3 days wages but such is my lack of spare it would be overdraft city

Like I said fair play to him but it's still about scale

Mr X donates 3 weeks wages to charity and everyone who knows about it says he's done an amazing thing.

I think the fella's Satan incarnate but good on him for this.
