[h=2]Caravan myth[/h] During his absence due to his recovery the S** newspaper was claiming he was depressed and had been found on a mobile home site in the Netherlands. In fact the caravan story may be an urban myth, as Bill Prosser, who worked as West Ham United's PA and travel arranger at the time, told The Guardian's The Fiver. "Marco was depressed after being sent off in his second appearance for West Ham at Old Trafford and disappeared for a few days. West Ham's Clubcall reporter phoned me and said he was trying to find Boogers for an interview but could not reach him. He asked if I had booked any flights for him. I told him I hadn't, but added: 'If he has gone back to Holland, he's probably gone by car again'. The reporter misheard me and stated on Clubcall that I had said 'If he's gone back to Holland, he's probably gone to his caravan'. As you know, journalists often listen to Clubcall. Which explains why, the following day, the back page headline in The S** was: 'Barmy Boogers Living In A Caravan'. The legend endures and Marco Boogers never played for West Ham again. I feel a bit responsible for his misfortune.".[SUP][9][/SUP]

Never seen him play but this feller sounds off the wall in a good way, Ivan Ergich, Bursaspor and ex-Juventus:

"One of my greatest sources of inspiration is Karl Marx. I grew up in what was then Yugoslavia, where my father was an orthodox Communist Party member. He taught me how to be human. Marx had unravelled the contradictions of capitalism some 150 years earlier and showed how the cash nexus corrupted the world. Money also corrupts football. I don’t want to be a conformist footballer. I need inspiration beyond football. I am inspired by the Frankfurt School of Adorno and Horkheimer. I also read a lot of Sartre. That is how I can maintain my principles, put my principles ahead of the pressures that demand that in football we succeed at any cost. Marx showed us that the contradictions of capitalism would negate the human essence and lead to alienation. I want to avoid this.

Have some of that, Barton.

I remember the old story of him walking into Tommy Smith's bar and Tommy refusing entry to Bernie - and Bernie wipes the floor with him. Dont know how true that was like, I hope it was.

James Wallace. Bad jockey, nearly crashed in to me. Today, got three points for speeding and blamed his driving instructor ( all via twitter).

MODERN FOOTBALL IS THE TITS

Heard of this bloke? The butcher of bilbao.

elcentrocampista.com/2012/02/andoni-goikoetxea/

The mercurial Argentinian was carried
off in agony to be later diagnosed with
a broken ankle. It was claimed after
that Goikoetxea retained the boot he
wore that day and wheeled it out at
parties as the “the boot he had used
to destroy Maradona’s ankle
ligamentsâ€￾
How true this is, nobody knows but it
certainly adds a fantastic edge to the
myth.
Goiko had already begun his one-man
war against the Catalan side two years
prior to the Maradona incident, when
he broke the leg of Barça’s German
international Berndt Schuster.

sent to jail for that fecking disgraceful

Ridiculous to get jail time for it in a football match but it is technically assault. Gerrard should have been locked away for 1 billion years no more no less for the Naysmith tackle.
