I would have thought with Lancashire playing top flight this year,this thread would be on page 10 by now !;):whip:


Glos start in the division below , Mr Cook has smashed a hundred against us playing for Essex. as you were it seems for our championship hopes. think it's two up ,two down this season so you never know.

Lancs only playing Cambridge at the moment. :)

I thought it was only one up one down this season?
 
....amazing news that England cricketer James Taylor has had to retire at the age of 26 after it was found he has the same heart condition as Muamba. Sad in many ways but fortunate the problem was identified before something tragic happened. I wish him all the very best.

Christ. Only just seen this. What a terrible thing for the lad, just when he was pushing to be an England regular. Poor lad.

.....he complained of illness during the latest Championship game. Fortunately he saw the Physio who withdrew him from the game and the problem came to light. He's undergoing heart surgery but I fear the situation might have been tragic had he not been astute enough to realise things weren't right.
 
Rob Key today announced his immediate retirement from cricket, not a surprising move as he was in India doing T20 media work for SKY while Kent were in pre-season training. A tremendous batsman at his peak, with a stack of runs to his name, but found it tough in recent seasons due to wrist problems and the usual reflex and eyesight issues of getting older. His unusual batting style of bringing the bat down from 4th slip direction was something he could get away with when young but less so when older when anything pitched up and straight had him in trouble.

....never really reached his potential at international level, though. I like him as a punter on TV.
 

I wonder if any of you can help me? How does county cricket survive? Telly money? Because I've been to lancs games at Aigburth and there were about 15 people there.

Made a double ton, something Athers never managed. But yes, you are right, a bit too shot happy at the start of his innings.
