No stones would not of done better or changed the outcome.

Hats off to Suarez and cavani who both produced world class moments when it mattered.

Don't even think J Terry would of made any difference to the outcome tbh. The tactics were all wrong, Roy wanted to make use of the attack (fair enough) but totally neglected helping out the defenders.

AND....I don't even think the most enthusiastic hater's of Gerrard could of imagined him being so poor and past it. Barry 100% would of done a better job.

...I haven't voted. I do think that you sometimes have to look beyond the obvious and our 2 central defenders were exposed because they had no effective screen in front of them. They will get a lot of stick, but only because the players in front of them (not naming names) failed to clear situations that led to the 2 goals.

Don't forget jags is a right sided cb playing out of position.

I have watched the goals again and can't see how he is getting blamed.

Because he plays for Everton and not in the CL with a top 4 fashionable team with a regonizable name.

Easy Target!
That goes for Baines too last game

Stones would have added ball retention and distribution, bit like how foreigners play the game. Problem is though passing to Gerrard & Henderson is like booting the ball into touch.

Ashley Cole would have blocked every single shot.

Fair tackle
Would've been so much better than the two we had at bringing the ball out of defence which is invaluable at this level.
Yep
No whoever is in defence would have been exposed by the rubbish in front of them
Fair tackle

The problem isn't a choice between Jags or Stones...It's the people in front of them, the shallow pool of talent to pick from and somebody to manage them in a decent way.

The whole pool of talent ( small )
managed by the best candidate ( who knows )
down hill, with the wind behind them, given all the best breaks in the best of possible worlds would be extremely to get past the 1/4's

Short version i) 1966 was a fluke

Short version ii) It hasn't got any better since then

Short version iii) The hand of god put paid to our best chance and the same problems then ( apart from the hand ) are still the same problems we have now.

Long term prognosis.... it isn't going to get any better

File under... mmmm... thinks....like Scotland we USED to be half decent, but that was 50yrs ago

I know that, but can't Hodgson just arrange for someone to knacker Gary Cahilll so he can use a backup?

Nah don't bother, it is what it is and Stones is well out of it.

Jags and Baines will not be at the Euros in 2 yrs

The key will be who is in charge then..and hope to god they can turn the English sow's ear into some sort of silk purse.

I've had enough of this, to mis(?)quote Khruschev how long have I got to put up with this s***e

So for that reason
