Given our wings are about as strong as a pub team, a bit of quality out wide wouldn't go amiss, he's better than Bily !

With enough funds, and plenty of talent on the paddock, even I could get Everton to the CL! ;o)

Personally, I rate Moyes, but I think he's good with bringing players through, not using established players & molding them into a team. This season's squad was "the one" according to some, but the wheels fell off yet again. I often think hypothetically, of him Managing City. I just don't think he could compete with all those ego's. Most of those players, or the ones we want, will have experienced success and I could easily see them thinking "Well, what has he won?" when he's trying to get his point across.

I'd like to see Moyes build a CL squad rather than have one bought for him because we would be a better team, and he would be a better Manager for it. If that means a few more years at 7th, then so be it. I think he's heading in this direction, but he desperately needs Board support with cash to achieve this.
There's a lot of that in football today. But if you've got the financial back up you can tell the players to put up or shut up coz you know you can replace them The egos have always been there but Players have got so much more power (agents) now. Possibly, why we seem to do so well when we've got an injury crisis the bit part players will do as they're told more. Moyes is compared to Ferguson for his character but without the resources to back him up there's no way he'll off load Arteta or Fellaini if he doesn't toe the party line as Fergie did with Jaap Stam for example.
Whereas with money to play with, he could have us up there. Can't guarantee anything. Look at Ancelotti and Mourinho this season. They've won everything at club level in the past, they're obviously pretty good at what they do. They started off with fairly decent teams and they've had loads of dosh to throw at players but just a cup win between them. Winning stuff is hard

I know you think I'm delusional about how good we actual are (I tend to put our successes down to our being boss and our failiures down to poor tactics, where as there's a decent argument to be made for it actually being the other way around.)

But Bentley couldn't walk into the team at fecking birmingham, ffs. He wouldn't walk into ours, either. At best he'd replace Bily on the bench and honestly Bily has been more reliable over the last few years.

And all local rivalry aside, I think you're letting some of these guys name and reputation (like Joe Cole and Aquilani) overshadow their actual performances of late. Cos, on current form, I wouldn't take those two and Lucas over Fellaini, Arteta and Osman, myself. Or Agger over Jagielka/Baines for that matter. And it honestly surprises me that anyone would. I think if you offered that switch to Liverpool they'd take it in a heartbeat.

Bentley has had his injuries at Birmingham that have hampered his spell there, but when he's been fully fit, more often than not he's been in the side. He's flattered to decieve there, but he's still a very good player, an out and out winger with pace who has a good final ball, if we signed him, he would go straight into the team no question. Come on, mate, form is temporary and all that.

Cole has hardly played there, i still think some team could get the best out of him again, its not like he's past it, and our wings are pretty poor as it is. As for Aquilani, i'm not sure how much Serie A you watch, but he's been exceptional for Juventus, as he was for Roma, even played himself back into the Italy team. I was quite gutted when they signed him, but a bit like Cole, he never saw much game time.

With regards Lucas, some of the Reds i play Football with haven't shut up about him all season, and he's just won their player of the year, even the Brazil team can't function without him now. Agger is a crock, but when he's fit he's their best defender by a mile. I think him and Jags would be a great partnership.

If the board could just give Moyes £40M to spend on Spearing and Shelvey, we could break into the magnificent sixth.
